Looking closely at Ginkgo biloba reveals many interesting and unique features of this eldest of trees. Ginkgo has reproductive features which are advancements on relatives called cycads, the cone bearing, fern or palm-like gymnosperms. Ginkgo shares many primitive structural traits of other relatives like conifers. Ginkgo lies between the cycads and conifers in genetically adjusting and dealing with the world containing mainly highly advanced plants and a host of pests.
