Fertilizing Trees and Shrubs
This fact sheet describes why, when, and how to fertilize plants in your landscape.
Included in this pamphlet are methods to control the soil pH and how to estimate the root zone area. There is little difference between the effectiveness of granular and liquid fertilizer. Both provide nitrogen and phosphorus adequately. However, spraying liquid fertilizer on the leaves (foliar feeding) will improve micro-nutrient deficiencies in the canopy.
