Designing Small Urban Parks: A manual for addressing social and ecological concerns
This is a new manual for designing urban parks combining multiple sources for easier access.
Small parks play crucially important roles in urban areas but their designs rarely reflect all that is now known about people, ecology, and landscapes. This lack of connection to current knowledge is not surprising because this information is spread across dozens of journals, reported in technical jargon, and has sometimes contradictory prescriptions. However, many park managers and designers would like to incorporate more ecologically sensitive features, respond to demographic changes, and also save on maintenance costs.
The Designing Small Urban Parks manual draws on this knowledge, providing guidelines for building better parks. It provides landscape architects, park designers, parks departments, planners, scientists, and civic groups with a broader palette of design options.
