In many urban/suburban areas, riparian vegetation is cleared for flood control purposes. Public perception often views these areas as un-kept, un-safe, and un-useable. Through community based environmental education, sustained community involvement, and diverse partnerships, urban riparian forests can be protected, restored and valued for their environmental, economic, and social benefits.
