Going Green (03-DG-11052021-086)

This project completed a multimedia presentation on the benefits of urban forestry and the economic benefits.
Today we have the knowledge to re-invent our cities to grow both economically and environmentally. Now we have the technology to share that knowledge. Compass Rose Media has completed work on a multimedia presentation that illustrates how planting more trees in urban areas pays economic dividends for cities. This presentation combines cutting edge content, creative, and technology to deliver a compelling message to leaders, planners, architects, arborists and anyone in the trenches! "Going Green" shows why and how to include community forests in sustainable growth strategies. This is a long-term communications outreach tool designed to accompany local presentations, and to increase public and private support for urban and community forests. When embarking on the project, CRM found that nothing like Going Green existed, especially not in a form that the public can easily access and disseminate. Going Green is available free for download at http://wwwgreen.org Users may also request a CD by mail — contact information is on the web site. Going Green has been distributed by the EPA and smart-growth planning organizers nationwide. It has been used in presentations across the country and has received acclaim from urban forest professionals to the general public.
Project objectives:
The presentation was designed to efficiently inform community leaders about the critical nature of urban forestry. It was important to us that in addition to communicating the value we also offered solutions to incorporate green infrastructure into city planning. We believe there no longer needs to be a choice between economically or environmentally sustainable communities.
