description

Ready for something new? How about a whole day devoted entirely to young trees? Think SPRING and think YOUNG as your Urban Forest Council presents its 2008 Regional Seminars Program entitled “PLANning FOR OUR FUTURE: YOUNG TREE MANAGEMENT.”

The exact same seminar will be conducted twice — in Matthews (near Charlotte) on Thursday, May 15th, then in New Hill (near Raleigh) on Friday, May 16th. This regionalized format is designed to reduce travel time for attendees and increase overall participation. The May 15th seminar will be at the Central Piedmont Community College, Levine Campus in Southeast Charlotte. The May 16th seminar will be at the Harris E&E Center, 3932 New Hill Holleman Rd, New Hill, NC, near Raleigh.

Snacks and beverages for registration and breaks plus free lunch will be included with your (bargain!) seminar fee of $75 for members or $90 for non-members. After May 1, $85 for members or $100 for non-members, and lunch is not guaranteed..

Our outstanding line-up of featured speakers will include Eric Wiseman, Ph.D., Virginia Tech; Anthony LeBude, NC State; and Kelby Fite, Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories. They will present our overall theme of YOUNG TREE MANAGEMENT through the sub-themes of Planting, Pruning and Pest Management (with IPM principles).

The morning will be spent inside with classroom format and we will go outside for the afternoon with concurrent demonstrations related to the morning topics. Bring your identification lenses, hand pruners and root collar excavation tools! Of course, update credits for all appropriate certifications and licenses will be available.
